Last month, we were joined by Dan, who was with us to complete his work experience. Dan is interested in a career in accountancy, so it was fantastic to be able to share our enthusiasm and teach him a little bit about accounts and tax! Dan has written the article below about his experience.
Last month, I completed my year 10 work experience at Frost Wiltshire. I got the placement because my mum (Vicki) works there as Client Experience Manager, and I am interested in becoming an accountant after leaving school.
Over the week, I have done a variety of tasks for Steve and Mel. I had my own desk with plenty of space and a computer as well.
The staff are friendly and approachable, adding to the enjoyability. The office is very nice, with a fridge and freezer consistently stocked with ice cream and cans of coke.
The week has been very tiring as it has been quite full-on with lots of things for me to do. I have left home at roughly the same time as for school, but don’t get home until over two hours later. It has also been tiring because there has been a lot to learn! I have learnt how to use Excel and Canva as well as useful skills related to accountancy. I have learnt how a set of accounts works and how tax returns are produced, which has been very interesting.
In conclusion, I am very thankful to Steve and Mel for having me here. It was a very good week – I have learnt a lot and it has given me more of an interest in a career in accountancy.
